The Only True God
There is one God; there is only one God. There will never be any other God other than the one true God. However, there are many individuals who are Gods, none are Gods unless they are one with the only true God. Any who are not one with God are not Gods at all, whether thy be false gods or idles, they are not God and have no power or glory. Of the many Gods who are the true God, because they are one with God, we know of three from ancient scripture: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost. They are not separate from God but they are separate personages. To say that one is a God, separate from the others would not be true, because they are one God; yet they are separate personages.
Christ gave us a parallel analogy:
The body of Christ is one body; there is only one body of Christ. There will never be any other body of Christ other than the one true church. However, there are many bodies, or people who are called saints, no one is a saint unless they are one with the only true church or body of Christ. Any who are not one with the church are not saints at all, whether they be members of false churches or other organizations or entities, they are not the church and body of Christ and have no power, glory or salvation. Of the many saints who are true saints, because they belong to the true church of Christ, we know of several offices or callings from ancient scripture: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers, (Ephesians 4:11) and seventy (Luke 10:1). They are not separate from the church of Christ but they are separate offices held by separate people. To say that one is a saint separate from the church of Christ would not be true, because there is only one church with saints; yet they are separate individuals.
